As a TV News Reporter, I wrote 5 stories and did 3 liveshots on-air nightly. As a Reporter on special projects, I wrote mini-documentaries, stories and specials on every topic imaginable from education to crime to the homeless. All of this news experience taught me to write about any subject on a deadline for broadcast.

I continue this work now, writing and producing my own original content for digital and other projects worldwide.

AUDIO DESCRIPTION

Print version of the Audio Description logo with stylized text and graphic elements.

I wrote all 4 scripts for these demos and recorded the Audio Description.

I’ve been committed to making media accessible to the blind and visually impaired for many years. I read newspapers on the radio for Broadcast Services for the Blind (BSB) at San Francisco’s Lighthouse for the Blind.

At the time, there was no other way for the blind community to access printed newspaper articles. While volunteering at BSB I started a weekly hour-long radio interview show, “In the Spotlight” interviewing people with interesting careers - from tech bros… to tap dancers – and even had a professional tapper to dance in the studio live, on the air.

Fostering Wishes: Duffle Bag Campaign PSA - English/Spanish

I wrote, voiced and produced this PSA in both English and Spanish, winning best PSA in the Volunteer Voiceover PSA Contest, 2024.

The contest challenged Voice Talent to write, produce, add music and voice a PSA on a nonprofit organization of their choice. I chose to spotlight Fostering Wishes, providing duffle bags to Foster Children, easing their transitions moving from house-to-house, and bringing dignity to them and their belongings.

“FORGET-ME-NOTS”

Text graphic with blue flowers, stating 'Forget-me-nots' and 'What it feels like to be homeless' with a purple and yellow background.

“Forget-Me-Nots”: What it Feels Like to Be Homeless - an Award-Winning TV News Series.

This original 5-part series uncovered what it really feels like to live on the streets with nowhere to go, and nowhere to leave your belongings.   As a TV News Reporter,  I stayed out on the streets with my videographer for 5 days following people in this situation.  We didn’t sleep in the news van and didn’t go home. We wandered the streets, got access to homeless encampments, and documented all of it.

We stood in line with a woman hoping for a space in a homeless shelter. She got a bed for a night… we got a spot on the hallway floor.  We didn’t take a space from someone in need and we didn’t go out to eat.  We ate leftovers at the shelter, after everyone else was served. I reported on struggling for food, a place sleep, and what to do all day, in the daily fight to survive.

The most surprising thing I learned was from following a woman, a senior. She’d lost her home in an affluent neighborhood and carried only one bag – filled with makeup. A woman’s desire to look pretty and taking pride in her appearance never disappears, regardless of the circumstances.

This series earned a Joey Award of Excellence.

I write and produce content for collaborations with Tina Kamriani Media & Davey the Puppet alongside Puppeteer Cara Leighty.

I write and produce spots collaborating with the hilarious Davey the Puppet. Davey has appeared in numerous PSA’s for Project Be Brave about Early Detection for Breast Cancer.  One of our PSA’s together was nominated SOVAS Voice Arts Award while Davey “spoke” in Mandarin.  Davey is the first puppet to attend the SOVAS Voice Arts Award, and is a puppet global superstar. He dislikes voice actors but loves hanging out with me… so we click. I write the spots and unleash the ideas… Davey brings the magic! Cara Leighty waves the wand.
